Restaurants Near Loop 360 Austin: Why Siena Is Worth the Turn off the Highway

Loop 360 — the Capital of Texas Highway — is one of those Austin roads that has a personality of its own. Winding through the Hill Country edge of the city, past Pennybacker Bridge and into the hills above Lake Austin, it's a drive that sets a mood before you've even arrived anywhere. At the corner of RM 2222 and Loop 360, Siena Ristorante Toscana has been the right destination at the end of that drive for 26 years.

The Location Makes the Evening

There's something about arriving at Siena from Loop 360 that works in the restaurant's favor. The drive itself — especially at dusk, when the hills go orange before the sun drops — is part of the experience. You're not fighting downtown traffic or hunting for parking in a garage. You're pulling off a road that already feels like a destination onto a property that confirms it.

The restaurant's Tuscan architecture fits that context. Stone walls, heavy wooden beams, balcony seating that looks down over the dining room floor. The covered patio and bar area open at 4:30 PM, which on a good Austin evening — the kind where the temperature drops to something actually comfortable — is where you want to start. A glass of wine, the patio air, no particular rush.

What Brings People Off Loop 360

The kitchen has been the draw since 2000. Chef David Hernandez runs rotating specials Thursday through Saturday, built around what's seasonal and interesting. The wood grill is the heart of the entrée menu — a 16oz ribeye with Calabrian chili butter, a wood-grilled pork chop with truffle honey mustard glaze, a beef filet with red wine demi. The homemade pastas — pappardelle with Texas wild boar ragù, fettuccine with wild mushrooms and truffle oil — are the kind of dishes that make you wonder why you don't make a habit of this drive more often.

The wine list has earned recognition from Wine Spectator, which gives you something worth exploring on a long evening. The pacing of an Italian meal — antipasti, then pasta, then the main course, then whatever you decide to linger over — suits the unhurried quality the drive out here tends to put you in.
